Having Spanish Tutors Homeschool Your Child - Best Practices and Methods

The decision to homeschool your children is a very personal one, perhaps it is because you feel you can offer your child a better education at home, or perhaps it is for religious reasons, or both. Finding acceptable Spanish tutors to homeschool your children can be a challenge.  The teaching methods you choose to incorporate into your homeschool are an equally personal decision, and you will have to decide along with any Spanish tutors who homeschool your children what will work for your family.

Many homeschool parents choose to use a pre prepared curriculum for their lessons. This provides teaching plans, record keeping methods, text books and work books. Some parents have found that they are the best tutors for their children, probably because they have the long term vision to invest in their children. However, it goes without saying that for certain subjects such as foreign languages, parents are not always the best fit when they don’t speak the language.  In this instance, consider having Spanish tutors homeschool your children.

Some families work a mixed curriculum, or do not follow any structured approach to homeschooling. However it is prudent for parents to hire the best tutors available for subjects they do not feel confident enough to teach, and unless you are fluent, Spanish will be one of these subjects.

The homeschool environment is a very intimate one, which give many opportunities to nurture each child’s personal needs. Finding Spanish tutors to homeschool your child can often seem intimidating and potentially disruptive to the homeschool environment, but consider that it all depends on the right fit. Some homeschoolers have found that exchanging teaching subjects can make for variety and good social opportunities for their children, and there may be some options you haven’t thought of.

As you can imagine, parents who homeschool make the best teachers when they are strong in a certain subject; for example, one mother may be a history buff and teach a history class to children from several families 2 times a week, and another father might be passionate about science and teach the same group of children a science class twice a week. The co-opping homeschool approach can be very effective in this instance, and perhaps you know a parent who is fluent in Spanish among your other homeschool friends and acquaintances.

When making the decision to have Spanish tutors homeschool your children in Spanish, remember that only you know what works best for your family, and make sure you find a good homeschool group to join so that you can have the support and mentoring you need.
